What is the difference between CalmShield and MindShift CBT?
MindShift CBT, from Anxiety Canada, is a CBT self-help app. People use it for thought records, experiments, and coping tools you work through on purpose. CalmShield is built for the moment when writing a thought record is too much: one-tap SOS, Wave Coach, night mode, and aftercare. MindShift fits practice between waves. CalmShield fits the peak, the hour after, and 3am. Neither is therapy. CalmShield does not publish a rating, a price, or a feature score for MindShift CBT.
What MindShift CBT is for
MindShift CBT comes from Anxiety Canada. It is known as a CBT self-help app: noticing thoughts, trying experiments, and using coping tools you sit down to do. That is real work, and it assumes you can think and write. Many people use that kind of tool between waves, when the alarm is quiet enough for a worksheet.
Why a thought record is a poor fit at the peak
A panic attack narrows attention. Choosing an exercise, naming a thought, and rating a belief is a lot to ask while your heart is racing. CalmShield starts with one body action from SOS, including from a home-screen widget, and stays through Wave Coach until aftercare. The writing can wait until the peak has eased, and even then one line is enough.
Who might still prefer MindShift CBT
If you want a CBT workbook for worry between episodes, and you are not looking for a one-tap path through the peak, MindShift is built for that practice. We are not scoring it. If the problem is the wave, the night, or the hour after, that is the problem CalmShield is shaped around.
